"It's the world right here," Kaitlynn Kenney of the City of West Palm Beach Community Events team told WPTV when the GreenMarket returned this fall. She was talking about the season's theme, "The World, Right Here," which highlights international food and cultural traditions. On one Saturday this season, that world will also include boat tours on Lake Worth Lagoon.
That Saturday is October 31. Halloween falls on a market day in 2026, and it's also the date of LagoonFest, which the event's 2026 materials bill as the 13th annual. The festival runs along Flagler Drive, and its own planning materials describe the GreenMarket as "next door." Costumes and candy are an evening thing. Downtown's waterfront has its biggest morning of the month before 2 p.m., and a few new openings nearby turn it into a full day out.
Two Events, One Stretch of Waterfront, Nearly the Same Hours
The city's Oct. 8, 2026 Mayor's Insider newsletter lists the GreenMarket at 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. That's the same opening time as LagoonFest, which matters for parking, strollers, and how early to leave the house.

The market opened its season on Oct. 3, and WPTV reports it will run through May 22, 2027. It skips two Saturdays, Feb. 6 and March 20. One tip if you're planning ahead: the city's GreenMarket hours page still showed last season's dates when we checked, so use the WPTV schedule for 2026–27.
The same city page lists a low-stimulation shopping period from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and free bike valet. On a morning when a family festival opens next door at the same time, that first half hour may be the calmest stretch of the day for families who need a quieter start.
The two closing times differ by half an hour. The market wraps up at 1:30 and LagoonFest at 2. If you're heading to the market for produce and pastries, go early. LagoonFest has room for a slower start.
What LagoonFest Puts on the Water
LagoonFest is built around Lake Worth Lagoon, which Discover The Palm Beaches describes as a 20-mile waterway and estuary. Plenty of downtown residents see the lagoon every day from Flagler Drive. This is a free family event that gets people out onto it. According to the 2026 activity outline, the program includes:
- Lagoon boat tours guided by scientists
- Wildlife demonstrations and exhibits
- A Kids Zone with face painting, crafts, and lawn games
- Casting activities and a shell hunt
- Photo opportunities with a group of mascots
- Giveaways from exhibitors
The boat tours are the one part of the day you can't easily do on any other Saturday, so it's worth starting there. Kids in costume will fit right in at face painting and mascot photos, and Halloween hasn't even reached the evening yet. Event details are on the LagoonFest page.
The Newest Bread Downtown Is Less Than a Month Old
By late morning, between the market and the festival, you'll probably want a proper lunch. The newest option on the downtown grid opened just this month.
The Daily Focaccia opened on Evernia Street on Oct. 5, according to the Palm Beach Post. The Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches listed the focacceria's grand opening and ribbon cutting for that same Monday, at 410 Evernia St., Suite 118. It also named the co-founders, Fernanda Bruna and chef Erjon Musaj. Musaj grew up in Tuscany and was previously executive chef at Bice in Palm Beach.
The menu centers on focaccia made from scratch and sandwiches with organic ingredients. Palm Beach Illustrated previewed three signatures:
- Italiano Bello: mortadella, ricotta, pistachios, arugula, olive oil, and lemon zest
- Capri: mozzarella, tomatoes, nut-free pesto, and spinach
- Americano: maple-glazed bacon, aged cheddar, tomato, lettuce, and Dijon mayo
The same preview said organic wine and craft beer were planned. We couldn't find published regular hours, so check before you go on a busy Saturday. A sandwich like the Italiano Bello is made for a bench by the water after a boat tour.
After 2 p.m., the Day Moves Inland
Once the waterfront packs up, the next stop is CityPlace, and it stays open long after the festival ends. BuddhaBerry, a frozen yogurt shop from New York with locations in Sag Harbor and Southampton, now has a West Palm Beach store at 417 S. Rosemary Ave. The Palm Beach Post reported a planned Sept. 30 opening. The brand's own location page now says the store is open.
The menu goes well past frozen yogurt and toppings. It also lists smoothies, bubble tea, coffee drinks, crepes, and waffles. On Fridays and Saturdays the store stays open until 11 p.m. Halloween is a Saturday, so the shop that's handy after the festival is still open after trick-or-treating. That makes it an easy last stop with a group of kids still in costume.
The Calendar on Either Side of Oct. 31
Halloween morning sits in the middle of a busy few weeks downtown. The dates around it, in order:
- Friday, Oct. 16: Taste of West Palm Beach returns to CityPlace from 6 to 8 p.m. It brings together more than 30 restaurants plus live entertainment, and it supports the Palm Beach County Food Bank.
- Saturdays through May 22, 2027, except Feb. 6 and March 20: the GreenMarket on the Great Lawn, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 31: LagoonFest along Flagler Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- November, date not yet set: 212 Bagel Co. is expected to open at 527 Clematis St. The owners are Max Ayoub and Gus Lange. The Palm Beach Post describes New York-style bagels that are hand-rolled, kettle-boiled, and baked on site. Ayoub told the Post the menu will include three matcha drinks that "are going to be radical." The timeline has already moved once. An earlier report aimed for summer.
The bagel shop will open in the 500 block of Clematis, the same street as the GreenMarket's Great Lawn address. Once it opens, downtown will have a second new place to pick up breakfast before market morning. The opening is still expected in November, and no date has been announced.
If you're starting the day farther west
You don't need to start downtown. Cafe Marseille opened July 31 at 7776 Okeechobee Blvd. Chef Jean Marseille's bakery makes French-style viennoiserie and artisan breads, which the bakery calls "edible art." The 561 Scoop lists weekend hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and reports that the bakery is closed Mondays. The 9 a.m. weekend opening comes after the waterfront events start, so a croissant from Cafe Marseille works better as a late-morning stop than as breakfast on the way to the 8:30 openings.
Weekends like this one are part of why we follow downtown West Palm Beach closely, from new spots on Evernia Street to the GreenMarket's Saturday schedule. If you're thinking about a place within walking distance of the waterfront, or just want to know what's opening near Clematis next, the team at Florida Exclusive Living is happy to talk it through.
