On Saturday, Nov. 7, three things happen in Downtown Boca that would each be worth a trip on their own. The Boca Raton Fine Art Show fills Sanborn Square from 10 a.m. The Boca Raton Museum of Art opens two new exhibitions in Mizner Park. Tequila Fest opens its doors at the Mizner Park Amphitheater at 4 p.m. The three venues sit within a few blocks of each other, connected by Plaza Real and a stretch of Federal Highway.
That stretch of Federal Highway is the one FDOT began rebuilding in late August. So the Saturday that works is a walking day. Park once, move between the venues on foot, and treat the highway as a street you cross, not one you drive between stops.
The Street You'll Be Crossing
Construction on the Florida Department of Transportation's $6.3 million Federal Highway project started Aug. 24, 2026. It covers 1.3 miles between Camino Real and NE 8th Street/Mizner Boulevard, TAPinto Boca Raton reported. Sanborn Square's address is 72 N Federal Hwy, which puts the art show right on the project corridor.
The work is permanent. Between Camino Real and Mizner Boulevard/SE 5th Street, the 11-foot outside travel lane is being removed. That space, plus room gained by narrowing the median, goes to 7-foot separated bike lanes and 11-foot sidewalks. The plan also adds a signalized pedestrian crossing with more lighting just south of Plaza Real, between Sanborn Square and the Mizner Park venues.
FDOT says access to businesses and homes stays open throughout construction and the speed limit stays at 35 mph. The full project is expected to wrap up in fall 2027. Lane closures shift as the work moves along the corridor, so check FDOT's weekly traffic report for the week of Nov. 2 before you drive in. Once you've parked, the project mostly stops mattering.
Park Once, at the North End
Your parking choice decides how the day goes, and the simplest option is free. Mizner Park's visitor page says parking is free in garages A, B, C and D. Valet runs at three spots: the center of the plaza beside the main fountain, the IPIC Theater, and Eddie V's. The museum at 501 Plaza Real and the amphitheater at 590 Plaza Real are both inside that footprint. If you park there, you can leave the car until the night is over. The art show is a short walk south.
Out-of-town guests can come by train. Brightline's Boca Raton station is at 101 NW 4th St. Its covered garage at 151 NW 4th St. costs $15 a day if you prepay or $20 at the station, and a prepaid pass is good until 3:59 a.m. the next day. If friends are staying for Tequila Fest, that cutoff covers the whole evening.
| Option | Where | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mizner Park garages A–D | Mizner Park | Free | The full day, from art show to amphitheater |
| Mizner Park valet | Fountain, IPIC, Eddie V's | Not listed | A quick drop-off before the museum |
| Brightline garage | 151 NW 4th St. | $15 prepaid, $20 at station | Guests coming in by rail or staying late |
Morning: Sanborn Square
The Boca Raton Fine Art Show runs Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days in Sanborn Square Park. Admission is free. Hot Works, LLC Fine Art & Craft Shows organizes it.
Since the show runs both days, you can split it up. Saturday is the busiest day downtown. If you mostly want to browse the booths, Sunday morning gives you the same show with no amphitheater crowd arriving behind you. Many people use Saturday morning for a first look and come back Sunday for the piece they kept thinking about.
Before you head south, stop for coffee and a doughnut on Plaza Real. Parlor Doughnuts opened its first Palm Beach County location with a grand opening on Sept. 26, the Palm Beach Post reported. It's at 9 Plaza Real S, Suite 108. Its layered doughnuts come with specialty coffee and breakfast items, and the menu includes vegan, gluten-friendly and keto-friendly options, TAPinto noted. If you're starting from the south end near Royal Palm Place, Espresso Joint at 125 Via Naranjas serves artisanal coffee, seasonal drinks and pastries.
Midday: The Museum's New Season Opens
In the early afternoon, go back north to 501 Plaza Real. On Nov. 7 the Boca Raton Museum of Art opens two exhibitions together: "Tobi Kahn: Quest for the Essence" and "Spiritual Ecologies: Art, Nature, and Community." Both stay up through April 4, 2027. With five months to see them, Saturday doesn't have to be your only visit. It's simply the day the museum is part of everything else happening around it.
There's a deadline elsewhere in the building. "Exploring Jess: Beat Generation Visionary" closes Dec. 6, 2026. If it's still on your list, this is a good day to catch it, because you're already there.
The new exhibitions come with programs on the following Sundays:
- Sunday, Nov. 8, 3 to 4 p.m.: "Art and Friendship: A Dialogue between Tobi Kahn and Douglas Dreishpoon." Adult tickets cost $10 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
- Sunday, Nov. 15, 3 to 4 p.m.: "Music in the Museum – Fragments of Eternity." Adult tickets cost $15 for members, $25 for nonmembers and $20 for nonmember seniors, and museum admission is included.
The Nov. 8 talk lines up with the art show's second day. Browse Sanborn Square in the morning, then hear the artist speak at 3.
Late Afternoon: The Amphitheater Takes Over
From 4 p.m. on, the north end of Plaza Real belongs to Tequila Fest. This is its fifth year at the Mizner Park Amphitheater. VIP doors open at 4 p.m. and all-inclusive pass holders come in at 5. The organizer expects 2,000+ guests, 30+ agave spirit brands, 20+ curated restaurants, a culinary competition, and five DJs and live performances. The City of Boca Raton's calendar lists general admission from 5 to 8 p.m.
Buy tickets ahead of time. The organizer says sales close before the event, and no tickets will be sold on the day or at the gate. All-inclusive passes start at $99 and VIP early access passes at $150. VIP adds the 4 p.m. entry, a VIP Garden with private bars and a raised loft looking over the festival.
This is the part of the day where parking once pays off. With 2,000-plus guests arriving at the amphitheater around 5, the Mizner Park garages fill exactly when the art show's daytime visitors are leaving. If your car is already parked from the morning, you skip that crunch completely.
If tequila isn't your thing, plan to leave Mizner Park by about 3:30. After that, expect the most foot and car traffic of the day there.
Two Openings Still Ahead
Two downtown restaurants have been announced but don't have opening dates yet. Fletchers, at Royal Palm Place, 133 SE Mizner Blvd., was announced for fall 2026. Boca Magazine described it as New American cuisine with Japanese and Mediterranean influences and an omakase option. Black Star Bakery and Cafe, at 100 Plaza Real S, Suite A, is still listed as "coming soon" in the Royal Palm Place directory, with NYC-style coffee, pastries and breakfast on the way. Neither one is part of the plan for Nov. 7. Both are on corners you'll walk past that day.
The Same Blocks, Before and After
Nov. 7 has two smaller events on either side of it, both on the same blocks.
The Thursday before, Nov. 5, the city's Night Market sets up in Sanborn Square from 6 to 9 p.m. It has food, sweets, local artists and makers, music and art. Two days later, the art show's tents go up in the same park.
The following Wednesday, Nov. 11, the amphitheater hosts Red, White & Boca: A Veterans Day Celebration from 4 to 8 p.m. It's a weekday evening on the same stage, and the same free garages are right there.
There's one thing even sooner. On Friday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 6 p.m., the city holds a Wildflower in Bloom plant giveaway at Wildflower Park, 551 East Palmetto Park Road. Native plants and seeds are free for Boca Raton residents, one plant per household while supplies last.
At Florida Exclusive Living, we spend a lot of time in Downtown Boca, and we keep up with how the Federal Highway work is changing the walk between Sanborn Square and Plaza Real.
