Incorporated in 1955, Miramar is located in Broward County, near Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Sunrise and Plantation. City boundaries have expanded over the past 60 years from 2.9 square miles to 30 square miles. The motto of the city is “Beauty and Progress.”

People looking for luxury homes in South Florida have flocked to Miramar. The population according to the 2000 Census was 72,739. That number jumped by almost 68 percent to 122,041 in 2010. Residents don’t have to leave town to find enjoyable activities. Miramar is home to five community parks and 22 neighborhood parks. The Miramar Civic Center hosts many yearly events, including the Caribe Fest in September and the Halloween Masquerade Dance in October.

There is a Town Center under construction, which will be the new home of City Hall and a public library. There will also be a mix of residential and retail offerings in the Town Center, surrounded by parks and waterfront views. Part of the Town Center will be the Miramar Cultural Arts Center, which will provide a site for artists, students and teachers to rehearse, perform and exhibit.
