Opa-Locka is a Miami suburb located in Miami-Dade county, founded by Glenn Curtiss. It features a unique Arabian Nights theme, including street names such as Ali Baba Avenue, and boasts the largest collection of Moorish architecture in North America. Despite being nearly destroyed by a hurricane in 1926, the city's Moorish Revival style buildings were preserved, and several locales are now included in the National Register of Historic Places. The city is historically significant as the location of Amelia Earhart's final trip around the world. Education is served by the Miami-Dade County Public School system.
