Homestead is the second oldest city in Miami-Dade County, located about 35 miles southwest of Miami. The city's origins date back to its incorporation in 1913. Buyers are drawn to Homestead's great location adjacent to two national parks: Everglades National Park to the west and Biscayne National Park to the east. To the south are the Florida Keys, offering miles of beaches and recreational activities. Popular local attractions include the Homestead Historic Downtown District, Seminole Theatre, Homestead Bayfront Park and Marina, South Dade Rail Trail, Knaus Berry Farm, Coral Castle, Schnebly Redland's Winery, and the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The climate features hot and humid summers and mild winters. As of 2014, the population was 59,866, with a median age of 29.6 years.
